Entries into the Cookbooks & Culinary Arts Program 2005, came from across the Globe, as far afield as Australia, S. Korea and Europe, to Canada, Mexico, Korea and from across the United States. Several Entries were excellent, but there is only one Winner in each category. Therefore, the Judges decided to Jumpstart a few of the 2006 Awards; and with the approval of the Entrants, transferred Entries. It opened the door to more Award Winners.

The Awards event was held on Thursday December 8, 2005, at the St. Petersburg Main Library. Winners flew into Florida from Europe, Canada, Mexico, Korea and from across the United States. They were accompanied by family members and friends. The Winners accepted their crystal globe  trophies. The globe is placed strategically on a glass hand that stands on an engraved black marble base. (Turn the globe very gently and the globe spins.) The Cash Award of $1000 awarded to the Entry that the Judges feel deserves extra special recognition, was split between two winners in 2005. Members of the Press were present.

The Winners were given a one year complimentary membership in the Academy of the Culinary Arts for 2006.  This allows them to nominate and vote for the winners next year in several categories.  Full information on this can be found under the Academy of the Culinary Arts link on the Cordon d' Or - Gold Ribbon website.

The Master of Ceremonies Muirelle Montecalvo announced the Winners, and the Awards were presented by Noreen Kinney.  Awards Sponsor John Donovan and several Judges who were present at the event were introduced to the audience. Among the Forty-two people who were at the Awards Presentation, the following Winners flew into Florida to accept their Awards.
