ALL CULINARY ARTS ENTRIES – ARTICLES, NEWSLETTERS, MAGAZINES, PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHS, DVD AND VHS DEMONSTRATION RECORDINGS, PUBLISHED RECIPES MUST BE PUBLISHED EITHER IN 2007 OR 2008
A WEBSITE SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN FIVE YEARS ESTABLISHED, AND NEEDS TO SHOW UPDATED CURRENT INFORMATION |
CULINARY DEMONSTRATION
ARE YOU A CULINARY DEMONSTRATOR? ARE YOU ABLE TO PREPARE A SELECTION OF DISHES COOKED BEFORE AN AUDIENCE, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, KEEP THEM ENTERTAINED? IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO DO IT, THEN ENTER A DEMONSTRATION DVD OR VHS TAPE INTO THE AWARDS PROGRAM. YOU MAY WIN, AND PROVE TO THE WORLD THAT YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A GREAT SUCCESS IN THIS VERY SPECIALIZED CULINARY THEATRE.
Maximum time permitted on the recording is One Hour for the Demonstration. Prepare and present an Entrée and a Dessert for 2-4 people. (Pre-preparation of ingredients allowed before the recording commences.) Remember to mention the ingredients and quantities being used. Send it two copies of the recording with your Entry Form, and fee. Also send in two typed copies of the Recipes shown in the Demonstration. This is a Group Entry – Chef and Photographer. Or you can include a third person with you, at the demonstration counter – another Chef or Culinary guest, and make it a Triple Entry.
CREATE A CULINARY MASTERPIECE - NEW
WHY NOT PUT YOUR ARTISTIC CULINARY TALENTS TO WORK, AND THE DESERVED RECOGNITION AND EXPOSURE FOR YOUR CULINARY ABILITIES. PREPARE A FAVORITE ENTRÉE, DESSERT OR EVEN A BUFFET TABLE. THEN, WITH THE USE OF ‘PROPS’, SET UP THE FOOD PRESENTATION THAT CREATES A ‘CULINARY MASTERPIECE’. GIVE YOUR PRESENTATION A TITLE. GET THE PHOTOGRAPHER TO TAKE THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOUR ARTISTIC CREATION, AND SEND THE PHOTOGRAPH INTO THE AWARDS PROGRAM. YOU CAN WIN AN AWARD.
Go to the Culinary Masterpiece link on the Cornucopia page, and you can review ideas on how the Entry can be presented through Photography. Open to all Culinarians, this is a Group Entry, or it can be a Triple or Quadruple Entry if you wish to include a Food Stylist and a Chef to help you, if you happen to be a Recipe Developer who wants to show off your hidden talents. Send in two copies of your photograph - minimum size 5” X 8” (flat finish, not glossy) together with two typed copies of the recipes used to prepare the dishes featured….and remember to give your work of art a Title.
CULINARY WEBSITE
YOU CAN BE AN AUTHOR, CHEF, RESTAURATEUR, COOKING SCHOOL OWNER, MENU PLANNER, RECIPE DEVELOPER, CULINARY DEMONSTRATOR, FOOD STYLIST OR FOOD PHOTOGRAPHER; OR EVEN A FOOD GROWER WITH AN ORGANICS FARM…. A WEBSITE IS AN INVALUABLE TOOL TO PROMOTE AND PUBLICIZE YOUR WORK TO THE WORLD BEYOND YOUR FRONT DOOR. IF YOU ARE INVOLVED PROFESSIONALLY IN ANY CULINARY ARTS ARENA, AND HAVE A CURRENT WORKING WEBSITE, ENTER IT INTO THE AWARDS PROGRAM. SOME FOLK HAVE TWO WEBSITES, AND IF SO, BOTH CAN BE ENTERED…. TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE…. YOU MAY WIN AN AWARD.
Submit the full address of the Website, together with the Bio of the Entrant, the Entry Form and Fee. If the Website belongs to a specific culinary line of business, you will need written approval from the business owner, to enter the Website into the Awards Program. The Entry can be a Group Entry if you wish a business partner to enter with you, or even the Web Designer. Your Choice! If it is your own Website, unless you are a known Culinary personality or Culinary Celebrity, please provide written verification from someone who knows you professionally (perhaps through a membership in a culinary organization), who will authenticate your website for you on your Entry Form.
FOOD STYLIST AND/OR PHOTOGRAPHER
THE ENTRY CAN COME FROM A FOOD STYLIST & PHOTOGRAPHER, OR FROM A PHOTOGRAPHER, WHO LIKES TO PHOTOGRAPH ALL TYPES OF SCENES CONNECTED TO THE CULINARY WORLD. THE ENTRY CAN BE A PUBLISHED WORK OR UNPUBLISHED.
The Photograph/s (two Photographs constitute two entries) can be sent in as an individual item, or appear in a published book or magazine. If a publication is involved, the Photograph chosen for Entry into the Awards Program needs to be clearly identified on the Entry Form. Two copies of the Photograph entered are required. If the Photograph entered has been published, details of the publication need to be provided. Unpublished professional photography can also be entered in this section for an Award.
CULINARY ARTICLE
THE AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE AUTHOR OR JOURNALIST CHOSEN BY THE JUDGES, FOR THEIR WORK PUBLISHED IN A MAGAZINE OR NEWSPAPER. IF THE ARTICLE INCLUDES A PHOTOGRAPH/S AND THE AUTHOR WISHES TO INCLUDE THE PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE ENTRY, IT CAN BE A GROUP ENTRY.
Send in two copies of the published article and identify the magazineor newspaper where it was published.
CULINARY NEWSLETTER
MANY NEWSLETTERS TODAY APPEAR ON COMPUTERS, AND ARE SENT AS AN ATTACHMENT TO AN E-MAIL, OR IN THE BODY OF THE E-MAIL. MANY CULINARIANS TODAY PRODUCE NEWSLETTERS – AN INTERESTING AVENUE TO PROMOTE THEIR CULINARY ACTIVITIES AND NEWS IN THE FOOD WORLD. IF YOU HAVE A NEWSLETTER AND WANT TO ENTER IT IN THE AWARDS PROGRAM, LET US KNOW. IT CAN BE A SIMPLE OR ELABORATE PRESENTATION…NO MATTER. WHAT COUNTS IS THE MANNER IN WHICH YOU PRESENT THE CONTENT OF YOUR NEWSLETTER, DESIGNED TO PROMOTE THE WORLD OF THE CULINARY ARTS, AND YOUR OWN WORK IN THE CULINARY FIELD.
Submit your Newsletter from your computer to Cordon d’ Or, after contacting us with your plans to enter it into the Awards Contest. Send in your Entry Form with the information on how we can access the Newsletter on the computer. This can be either a Single Entry or a Group Entry if you wish another person to be involved. If the Newsletter is part of a business you are connected with, we will require written approval from the owner or a partner, who can verify the legitimacy of the Newsletter, and their signature approval that it can be entered into the Awards Program.
CULINARY MAGAZINE
IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A GLOSSY FOOD MAGAZINE TO BE ENTERED INTO THE AWARDS PROGRAM. SO LONG AS IT IS CONNECTED TO THE WORLD OF FOOD, WITH FOOD LITERARY CONTENT AND/OR PICTORIAL – WITH OR WITHOUT RECIPES, IT WILL WORK. TWO PEOPLE WHO ARE CONNECTED WITH THE PUBLICATION, OR WHO HAVE THE WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE PUBLISHER OR EDITOR OF THE MAGAZINE, MAY ENTER AN EDITION OF THE MAGAZINE THAT THEY FEEL DESERVES RECOGNITION. THE AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE PUBLICATION CHOSEN BY THE JUDGES.
Send in two copies of the Magazine entered for an Award, plus a short summary with reasons for your choice. The Entry Form requires the approval signature from the magazine Editor or Publisher, and indicate what connection you have with the magazine.
RECIPE – PUBLISHED RECIPE - UNPUBLISHED
THESE ARE TWO SEPARATE ENTRIES AND THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE AWARDS THAT WILL BE PRESENTED. THE PUBLISHED RECIPE (WITH PHOTOGRAPH) IS A GROUP ENTRY OPEN TO CULINARY PROFESSIONALS. THE UNPUBLISHED RECIPE (WITH PHOTOGRAPH) IS OPEN TO BOTH CULINARY PROFESSIONALS AND NON CULINARY PEOPLE, WHO WISH TO TRY THEIR HAND IN THE CULINARY ARTS, AND SHOW THEIR WORK.
Entries must include information on whether the work is published or not published. If published, we will require information on the publication where it appeared. Together with the Entry Form, Entrants in either of the Recipe categories must send in two copies of the photograph and two typed copies of the Recipe used to prepare the food shown in the photograph.
